Seafood and breathtaking views were the two main outputs of the small fishing village of Charlestown, Oregon. That was until 2013 when Stillwagon Distillery was founded. Now Charlestown can add a wide variety of flavorful craft spirits to their output list.
Rick Stillwagon founded Stillwagon Distillery and serves as its head distiller. But his path to distillery ownership is unlike most. He stumbled onto the profession via a Koi Pond. Rick built a Koi pond, but found that he needed a heater to distill the water and keep it warm for the temperamental fish. Ever environmentally conscious, he realized that distilling spirits would use far less energy than distilling the water for the fish.
Stillwagon Distillery makes vodka and falernum, but their crown jewel is the line of ‘The Devil’s Own’ Rums. The ‘Devil’s Own’ line has flavors ranging from mocha to hibiscus, encompassing everything in between. Stillwagon Distillery makes all of their craft spirits with real fruit and fresh ingredients, never anything artificial.
