Gulch Distillers take their name from the rich history of agriculture and industry in Montana’s landscape. A gulch is defined as a deep V-shaped valley formed by erosion. The gulches of Montana command the topography of Big Sky Country and influence nature, recreation, and their way of life. Gulch Distillers operate right on the Helena’s Last Chance Gulch, and just as their name suggests, they acknowledge the tradition of spirits manufacturing in the area.
Gulch Distillers is proudly located in the former Montana Distillery and Bottling Warehouse on the north end of Helena’s main, historic gulch, just downstream from the strike that turned into a mining camp and eventually the state capital. Established in 2012 as Triple Divide Spirits, native Helenans Tyrrell Hibbard and Steffen Rasile purchased the distillery in 2015 to pursue a shared passion for whiskey and quality spirits, along with a keen interest in craft cocktails. They rebranded the business to Gulch Distillers™ in September 2016.
Gulch Distillers ferment, distill, and bottle on site. They use only Montana-grown grains in their grain-based spirits. At Gulch Distillers, they create products that combine the state’s pioneer spirit with refined spirit production.

The Reviver


Ingredients:
  • .5 oz. Burrone Fernet
  • .5 oz. Lime Juice
  • .75 oz. Ginger Syrup
  • 1 oz. Guardian Gin
Directions:
Add ingredients with lots of ice to a shaker and shake until cold. Empty entire contents into a collins glass, top with a little soda, and garnish with a lime wheel.

Fernet Flip


Ingredients:
  • .5 oz Gran Marnier
  • .5 oz. Lemon Juice
  • 1 Egg White
  • 1 oz. Burrone Fernet
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters
Directions:
Add Fernet, egg white, Gran Mernier, and lemon juice to a mixing tin and shake to emulsify ingredients. Add ice and shake to chill. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a few dashes of Angostura Bitters.

Little Bitter


Ingredients:
  • 1 oz. Burrone Fernet
  • 1 oz. Demerara Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz. Flintlock Spiced Rum
  • 1 oz. Lemon Juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
Directions:
Mix ingredients and ice into a cocktail shaker and shake until cold. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with an orange peel.

Who Done It


Ingredients:
  • .5 oz. Orgeat
  • .75 oz. Burrone Fernet
  • .75 oz. cold brew coffee
  • .75 oz. Flintlock Spiced Rum
Directions:
Add ingredients to a shaking tin with ice. Shake and strain into a coupe or punch glass, and garnish with pride.

Radler Your Cage


Ingredients:
  • 1 oz. Burrone Fernet
  • 12 oz. lager, pilsner, or light beer
  • 2 oz. grapefruit juice
Directions:
Add ingredients to a chilled pint glass. Garnish with an orange slice.

The Herbalist


Ingredients:
  • .25 oz. Burrone Fernet
  • 1.5 oz. Guardian Gin
  • Fill the glass with tonic water
Directions:
Fill a collins glass with ice. Add Gin and top up with a good tonic water. Add a splash of Fernet for color. Garnish with an orange wheel or a sage leaf.

The Flintlock Pistol


Ingredients:
  • .5 oz. Coffee Liqueur
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 oz. Flintlock Rum
Directions:
Combine ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and give it a long stir. Pour into a coupe glass and flame an orange peel over the glass. Garnish with an orange peel.

Cuban Firing Squad


Ingredients:
  • .75 oz. grenadine
  • .75 oz. Lime Juice
  • 1 oz. Flintlock Rum
  • 2 dashes Habanero Shrub
Directions:
Add ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake and pour into a rocks glass. Top with soda and garnish with a cherry and lime wedge.

Mojito


Ingredients:
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 1 oz. Simple Syrup
  • 1.5 oz. Flintlock Rum
  • 12 mint leaves
Directions:
Lightly muddle mint with lime juice and simple syrup in a shaker. Add rum and ice and shake vigorously. Pour the entire content of the shaker into a collins glass and top with soda. Garnish with a lime wheel and mint sprig.

Montana Mai Tai


Ingredients:
  • .25 oz. Curaçao
  • .5 oz. Lime Juice
  • .5 oz. Orgeat
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 oz. Flintlock Rum
Directions:
Add rum, lime juice, orgeat, curaçao (such as Cointreau), and orange bitters to a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Serve in a rocks glass over ice and garnish with orange peel and lime wheel.

Bee's Knees


Ingredients:
  • .5 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • .75 oz. 2:1 Honey Syrup
  • 1 dash lavender bitters
  • 1.5 oz. Guardian Gin
Directions:
Add ingredients and ice to a cocktail shaker, and shake until well chilled. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a lemon peel.

Gimlet


Ingredients:
  • 1 oz. Guardian Gin
  • 1 oz. Simple Syrup
  • 2 dashes Habanero Shrub
  • 2 oz. lime juice
Directions:
Add all ingredients to an iced shaker and shake. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a Lime wheel.
