About Bodegas Tradicion

Tradition isn’t just a name for Bodegas Tradicion, it’s their mission. All of their exquisite aged wines are bottled ‘en rama,’ literally translated as ‘on the vine,’ meaning there are no additives. Their wines are not chill filtered, nor cold stabilized. They only use traditional sulfites for fermentation, offering their drinkers only the highest quality traditional wines Jerez has to offer.

Don’t let Bodegas Tradicion’s youth fool you. Founded in 1998, they have the unique honor of succeeding the oldest winery in Jerez. Joaquin Rivero founded Bodega Tradicion based on the renowned Bodega CZ, J.M. Rivero, the oldest known sherry house dating back to 1650.

J.M. Rivero was appointed the supplier of the Royal House of Spain and Portugal, and under his direction the winery obtained international acclaim. In 1991, Bodega CZ, J.M. Rivero was sold to another wine merchant. Joaquin immediately knew he needed to open a new winery to continue his family’s sherry-making traditions.
