About Republic Restoratives Distillery

Washington DC’s Republic Restoratives isn’t a craft distillery founded by deep pockets or generational distillers. They’re a woman-owned, crowd-funded distillery producing award-winning craft spirits of the people, by the people, for the people.

Owners, founders and lifelong best friends Pia Carusone and Rachel Gardner spent their adult lives living on opposite ends of the country. Despite the distance, they floated the idea of owning a distillery together for years following a conversation they had while sipping whiskey on Rachel’s old family farm. After some coaxing from Pia, Rachel moved from Seattle to DC in 2013, and they started down the path towards opening their distillery.

Countless rejections from banks and one overwhelmingly successful crowdfunding campaign later, Republic Restoratives opened their doors in May 2016. They quickly got to work on their line of craft spirits, including Civic Vodka, Rodham Rye and Chapmans Apple Brandy, each delicious and award-winning in their own right. For Republic Restoratives, cocktails create community, and they want you to be a part of theirs.
