About Rio Brazos Distillery

Every bottle they make at Rio Brazos is distilled from a bourbon mash of sweet yellow corn and malted barley. From their unaged Whistlestop Texas Whiskey to their Rio Brazos Texas Bourbon, they’re making truly Texan craft whiskies. And as Brazos County’s first licensed distillery, they’re doing it like no one has before.

Affectionately known as ‘Aggieland,’ College Station is home to a lot more than just Texas A&M University. There’s a vibrant brewing and distilling community. It’s home to Rio Brazos Distillery where craft whiskies are made by ‘Aggies’ for everyone.

Before opening Rio Brazos Distillery, owner and distiller Nathan Barkman was an amateur with dreams of going pro. For years he had been home brewing beers and experimenting making wines. But his mind was elsewhere. He wanted to make whiskies. When the opportunity presented itself to chase that dream, he started running. Nathan opened the doors to Rio Brazos Distillery in 2013.
