About Viejo Indecente

In the valleys of Oaxaca, in the small community of San Isidro Guishe, agaves are basking in the warmth of the Mexican sun. The field belongs to the Lucas family, and has for over a century. Soon, their agave will be distilled into the award-winning mezcal courtesy of Viejo Indecente.

The Lucas family agave fields are now under the care of Jose Lucas. Jose is the third generation to be distilling mezcal in the Lucas family. Honoring the family tradition, Jose has begun to pass along his skills to his eleven children. But it wasn’t until 2013 that the Lucas family mezcal became Viejo Indecente when co-owners Kristina Diaz Paterson and Gabriel Pacheco met the Lucas family and set out to share the smoky spirits.

Viejo Indecente’s award-winning mezcal comes in two varieties. The single-agave Espadin, and their agave-blend Ensamble. The Ensamble employs two different types of agaves that are fermented in tanks made of Montezuma wood. From herbal to smoky, Viejo Indecente’s mezcal walks through a flavorful valley.
